Dr. Daniel M. Fienup
We typically bring on 1 to 2 research assistants a semester to compliment our team - we would bring in more, but folks tend to stay with us for 2-4 semesters.
Our research assistants volunteer, some receive Psych 391 credit, and sometimes ACE Lab serves as a work study site.
Recruitment for the Fall semester typically begins in April and May. Recruitment for the Spring semester occurs in November. This is when the lab is planning activities for the upcoming semester and we have good idea of the resources we need.
**Research assistants need to commit to a minimum of a 1-semester experience.
**We require research assistants to be in the lab a minimum of 6 hours a week.
While some assistants work in the lab for 1 semester, the best ACE Lab experiences occur in semester 2 and beyond. During your first semester, you learn a lot about the basics of conducting behavioral research. But in the second semester and beyond, research assistants have the opportunity to manage studies and databases, problem-solve new study obstacles, aid in developing new protocols, and train incoming research assistants. Research assistants who work in the lab for more than 1 semester develop a broader set of professional skills.
